4 features Facebook copied from Twitter

A list of Twitter features that Facebook found the need to also use.

1. @Mention

To tweet someone on twitter you place an @ in front of their username and they are notified about you tweet that simple. With Facebook you could send someone a message and write on their wall and that was cool but they weren't happy with that so made mentioning someone possible.

2. Follow

To keep up with someone's tweets you follow them and their tweets will appear in your timeline. With Facebook we could connect with someone by adding them as a friend, liking a page, joining a group. But they thought it would be cool to add another way of connecting to someone by allowing you to follow them.

3. Verified Accounts

I remember when I first joined Facebook I would always search for my favourite celebrities but most of them turned out to be fake, on twitter we are able to see which accounts are real because it said they were verified. That was AWESOME!!! So awesome that Facebook did the exact same thing.

4. #Hashtags

One of the features I loved about twitter was their hashtags, they would help so trending topics, all you do is click on a hashtag and you can see what people are saying about a particular subject. Now Facebook users saw hashtags and have been using them on Facebook without a purpose because  it did nothing on
Facebook, they probably did it because it was cool. Facebook recently announced that they will add #hashtags to their list of twitter features.

There's no denying that these features are great and make using Facebook a whole lot better, I mean who doesn't like to mention and hashtag oh and know their favourite celebrity or brand is real? Not me.
Is Facebook being a copy cat or are they just trying to stay relevant by introducing features that people like which they lack?
